First Aid at Work Level 3

First Aid at Work Level 3 (VTQ) qualification (FAW) is ideal for most businesses whose risk assessment has identified that they require a fully trained first aider for their workplace. This course meets the requirements of the First Aid at Work (First Aid) regulations 1981, (and subsequent updates), including the 1st October 2017 changes, as well as the UK and European Resuscitation Council Guidelines 2021 as per the HSE requirements.

Course Content:

(3 Days, 18 hours contact time)

Understanding the role and responsibilities of a first aider 

Assessing an incident, including conducting a scene survey and primary survey

Providing first aid to an unresponsive casualty, including CPR, recovery position, seizure management

Providing first aid to a casualty who is choking 

Providing first aid to a casualty with external bleeding 

Recognising and administering first aid to a casualty who is in shock 

Administering first aid to a casualty with: - small cuts - grazes - bruises - small splinters 

Administering first aid to a casualty with minor burns and scalds

Managing workplace illness and injuries

Conducting a secondary survey

Recognising and treating suspected fractures, dislocations, strains and sprains

Recognising and providing first aid for suspected head injury and spinal injuries

Recognising and providing first aid for suspected flail chest and chest injuries

Administering first aid to a casualty with a burn and/or scold

Identifying and providing first aid to a casualty with an eye injury

Knowing how to provide first aid to a casualty with sudden poisoning

Assessment:

Continuous assessment by the trainer including question and answer sessions, group work, practical skills evaluation and a short multiple choice theory test

Certification:

Successful candidates will receive a First Aid at Work Certificate Valid for 3 Years
